Disclaimer.
The information on this website is published in good faith and for general guidance. It is not a quotation, and it is not professional advice on customs, tax or regulatory matters.
At a glance
- All prices on this website are indicative and are not a quotation or offer.
- Transit times, sailing dates and flight frequencies are typical, not guaranteed.
- Customs, duty and import guidance is general and must be confirmed for each shipment.
- Our services are supplied under our terms and conditions, not this page.
1.Purpose of this disclaimer
This website is published by NLX Logistics Ltd to help people and businesses understand international freight from the United Kingdom: how car shipping, RoRo, container shipping, air freight and road freight work, what they typically cost, how long they take, and what documents and regulations are involved. We work hard to keep the information accurate and useful, but freight is a fast-moving industry, and the information on this site is provided for general guidance only.
This disclaimer explains how you should treat the content, what it is and is not, and the limits of our responsibility for it. It applies to every page on this website, including country pages, service pages, guides, articles, the rate finder, the shipping schedule finder, calculators and any downloadable material.
2.Indicative guide prices
Every price published on this website is indicative. Guide prices for vehicles by type, for 20ft and 40ft containers, for LCL groupage per cubic metre and for air freight per kilo under and over 100 kilos are intended to help you judge whether a shipment is viable and to compare methods of transport. They are not quotations, they are not offers capable of acceptance, and they do not form part of any contract.
Freight rates change frequently, sometimes weekly, in response to vessel and aircraft capacity, fuel prices, currency movements, seasonal demand, port congestion, geopolitical events and destination charges set by local terminals and authorities. A guide price that was accurate when published may be higher or lower by the time you ship. These are indicative rates. Contact us for precise rates.
3.What guide prices usually exclude
Unless a page states otherwise, guide prices generally cover the main freight element from a UK port or airport to the named destination port or airport. They normally exclude the items below, which can add significantly to the total landed cost of a shipment.
- Collection within the UK and delivery at destination
- Destination terminal handling, delivery order and port charges
- Import duties, VAT, GST, excise and registration taxes
- Customs inspections, scanning, fumigation or cleaning
- Storage, demurrage and detention
- Marine cargo insurance
- Carrier surcharges introduced after publication
4.Shipping schedules and departure dates
Sailing frequencies, next departure dates, cut-off dates and transit times shown in our shipping schedules are sample figures based on typical carrier patterns on each trade. They are provided to help you plan and are clearly labelled as indicative. Carriers change schedules regularly: vessels are delayed by weather and congestion, ports are omitted, services are merged or suspended, and aircraft are substituted or cancelled.
No date or transit time on this website should be treated as a confirmed booking or as guaranteed. Actual sailing and flight dates are confirmed only in our written booking confirmation, and even then remain subject to change by the carrier. We accept no liability for loss arising from reliance on a published schedule.
5.Customs and regulatory information
Our pages discuss customs procedures, export declarations, duty and tax, vehicle import rules, age limits, inspection regimes, dangerous goods rules and licensing. These rules differ by country, change frequently and often depend on the specific circumstances of the shipment, the goods and the people involved. Our guidance reflects our understanding at the time of writing and is necessarily simplified.
It is not legal, tax or customs advice and is not a substitute for confirmation from the relevant authority or from a licensed adviser in the destination country. Before shipping, you should confirm the rules that apply to your goods. You remain responsible for the lawfulness of your export and import, the accuracy of your declarations and the payment of any duty, tax or penalty.
6.Vehicle-specific information
Information about vehicle shipping — including whether RoRo is available on a route, which vehicles a carrier will accept, age limits, right-hand-drive restrictions and registration processes abroad — is based on typical conditions and our experience. Carriers can change acceptance criteria for particular vehicles, such as electric vehicles, high-and-heavy units or non-runners, and destination countries can change import rules with little notice. Please confirm the position for your vehicle before committing to a purchase or a move.
7.Ports, airports and country information
Country pages list principal seaports and airports and describe typical services from the UK. These lists are not exhaustive, and the availability of a service to a particular port or airport can change. Some ports are served only by transhipment, and some airports have limited freight capacity. We will confirm the best routing for your shipment when we quote.
8.Articles and guides
Our articles and guides are written to explain freight topics in plain English. They are general in nature and may not reflect every circumstance or the most recent regulatory change. Examples used in articles are illustrative. Opinions expressed are those of our freight desk based on experience and should not be relied on as the only consideration in making a decision.
9.Calculators and tools
Where the website provides tools such as rate finders, chargeable weight explanations or schedule finders, the results depend on the information entered and on assumptions built into the tool. Results are estimates only. We will always confirm the chargeable weight, volume and price after the goods have been measured and the booking has been confirmed.
10.No contract formed by this website
Nothing on this website creates a contract between you and NLX Logistics Ltd. Submitting a quotation request does not commit you to booking, and it does not commit us to carry your goods. A contract is formed only when we accept your instructions in writing, and our services are supplied subject to our terms and conditions, which include important limitations of liability.
11.Accuracy and availability of the website
We aim to keep the website accurate, up to date and available, but we do not warrant that it will be free from errors, omissions or interruptions, or that it is free from viruses or other harmful components. We may change, suspend or withdraw any part of the website without notice. You should use appropriate security software when browsing the internet.
12.External links
Where we link to other websites — such as government guidance, carrier tracking pages or trade associations — we do so because we believe the content may be useful. We do not control those websites and are not responsible for their content, accuracy, availability or privacy practices. A link does not imply that we endorse the website or its owner.
13.Trade marks and third-party names
Names of shipping lines, airlines, ports and other organisations are used on this website for identification and information only. They remain the property of their respective owners, and their use does not imply any endorsement of, or affiliation with, NLX Logistics Ltd, unless expressly stated.
14.Intellectual property
The text, images, graphics, logos and layout of this website are owned by or licensed to NLX Logistics Ltd and are protected by copyright and other intellectual property rights. You may view and print pages for your own reference in planning a shipment. You may not copy, reproduce, republish or distribute any content for commercial purposes without our written permission.
15.Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, NLX Logistics Ltd excludes all liability for any loss or damage, whether direct, indirect or consequential, arising from use of, or reliance on, information published on this website, including loss of profit, loss of business, loss of data and wasted expenditure. Nothing in this disclaimer excludes liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or for any liability that cannot be excluded under English law.
16.Governing law
This disclaimer is governed by the law of England and Wales. Any dispute relating to this website will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
17.Questions
If you notice something on this website that appears inaccurate or out of date, we would be grateful if you would let us know through our contact page. If you have a question about a specific shipment, please request a quotation and our freight desk will give you advice tailored to your circumstances.
18.How to read our car shipping prices
Car and RoRo guide prices are shown per unit by vehicle type: saloon or hatchback, 4x4 or SUV, van or minibus, motorhome, truck, trailer, motorcycle and plant or agricultural machinery. RoRo freight is priced on volume rather than weight, so the actual price depends on the exact length, width and height of your vehicle. A long-wheelbase version of a model, a roof rack or a tow bar can move a vehicle into a higher price band. Motorhomes, trucks and machinery over about 1.9 metres high are carried on high-and-heavy decks and priced per cubic metre.
Where RoRo is not available to a destination, guide prices assume carriage in a shared or sole-use container, which normally costs more per vehicle. Destination charges for vehicles, such as port handling, customs examination, roadworthiness inspections and registration, can be considerable and vary widely by country.
19.How to read our container prices
Container guide prices are shown per container for 20ft, 40ft and 40ft high cube full container loads, and per cubic metre for LCL groupage. FCL prices assume port-to-port carriage of general, non-hazardous cargo within standard weight limits. Heavy cargo, hazardous goods, reefer equipment, flat racks and open tops attract different rates and surcharges. LCL prices are subject to minimum charges and are calculated on volume or weight, whichever is greater, on a basis of one cubic metre per 1,000 kilos.
Container freight is particularly sensitive to market conditions. Rates on long-haul trades can move sharply in a matter of weeks when capacity is withdrawn, when canal or strait routings are disrupted, or when peak season demand arrives. The guide prices on this site are updated periodically and may lag behind the current market.
20.How to read our air freight prices
Air freight guide prices are shown per kilo for shipments under 100 kilos and over 100 kilos, together with a minimum charge. The kilo figure applies to the chargeable weight, which is the greater of the actual weight and the volumetric weight calculated at 6,000 cubic centimetres per kilo. Light but bulky cargo will therefore be charged at more than its scale weight. Fuel and security surcharges, screening, airport handling and the air waybill fee may be additional to the per-kilo rate.
Dangerous goods, temperature-controlled cargo, valuable cargo, live animals and oversized pieces that require a freighter aircraft are priced separately and may not be available on every route.
21.Currency and taxes
Guide prices are shown in pounds sterling. Many freight costs are incurred in US dollars or euros, and changes in exchange rates affect the final price. Prices exclude UK VAT where it applies; international freight services are often zero-rated, but some ancillary services, such as UK-only storage or domestic haulage, carry VAT at the standard rate. Destination taxes are always excluded.
22.Incoterms and responsibility for costs
Information on this website about Incoterms explains the general allocation of cost and risk between sellers and buyers. The actual allocation depends on the Incoterm stated in your sales contract and on any variations you have agreed. You should take your own advice on the Incoterm that suits your transaction, as the choice has consequences for customs, insurance and tax that go beyond freight.
23.Insurance information
Descriptions of marine cargo insurance on this website are a general summary of how such cover typically works. They are not a policy wording, and the cover actually provided depends on the terms, conditions, exclusions and excesses of the policy issued. Premium examples are indicative. Where we arrange insurance, we will provide the policy or certificate terms, which you should read carefully.
24.Timing assumptions
Where we describe how long a shipment takes door to door, we assume that the goods are ready on time, that all documents are complete and correct, that no inspection or query is raised by customs, and that carriers operate to schedule. Any of these assumptions can fail. Delays caused by weather, congestion, industrial action, equipment shortages, public holidays or regulatory intervention are outside our control, and you should build contingency into any plan that depends on a delivery date.
25.Examples and case studies
Where we describe examples of shipments we have handled, costs saved or problems solved, these illustrate the kind of work we do. Every shipment is different, and past results do not guarantee similar outcomes for your shipment. Names and details in examples may be changed to protect client confidentiality.
26.Professional advice
If your shipment raises legal, tax, customs, licensing or insurance questions of significance, you should take professional advice from a suitably qualified adviser. We are happy to work alongside your advisers and to provide information about the logistics of a shipment, but our role is that of a freight forwarder, and we do not provide legal or tax advice.
27.Changes to this disclaimer
We may update this disclaimer from time to time to reflect changes to the website, our services or the law. The version published on this page applies to your use of the website at the time. The date at the top of the page shows when it was last revised.
28.Road freight and European services
Information about road freight to Europe, including transit times by country, groupage departures, pallet prices and border procedures, is general. Road transit is affected by ferry and tunnel availability, driver-hours regulations, weekend and holiday driving bans in several countries, border queues and customs checks. Post-Brexit procedures, including the Goods Vehicle Movement Service, transit documents and EU import declarations, continue to evolve, and the requirements for your load should be confirmed at booking.
29.Specialist cargo
Guidance on motorhomes, caravans, boats, trucks, trailers, plant, agricultural machinery and project cargo is intended to explain the options available. Specialist cargo almost always needs individual assessment of dimensions, weight, lifting points and preparation requirements. Carriers may decline particular units, require surveys or impose conditions such as cleaning certificates, and the cost can differ materially from any guide price shown on the website.
30.Household goods and personal effects
Information about shipping household goods, excess baggage and personal effects, including duty-free allowances for returning residents and people relocating, is a general summary. Allowances and conditions differ by country and often depend on residence history, visa status and the age of the goods. Some items, such as alcohol, tobacco, medicines, firearms, plants and food, are restricted or prohibited in many countries. You should confirm the rules with the destination customs authority before packing.
31.Market commentary
From time to time we comment on freight market conditions, such as rate movements, capacity changes, port congestion or route disruptions. This commentary reflects our view at the time of writing and is intended to help customers plan. It is not a forecast on which financial decisions should be based, and conditions can change quickly and unpredictably.
32.Translations and international visitors
This website is written in English for customers shipping from the United Kingdom. If you use an automated translation tool to read it, the translation may not be accurate, and the English version prevails. Information about destination countries is written from the perspective of a UK shipper and may not reflect the rules that apply to shipments originating elsewhere.
33.Availability of services
The inclusion of a country, port, airport or service on this website does not guarantee that we can provide a service to that destination at any particular time. Sanctions, security conditions, carrier withdrawals, port closures and regulatory changes can make a service temporarily or permanently unavailable. We reserve the right to decline any shipment.
34.Using this information responsibly
We publish detailed information because we believe well-informed customers make better decisions and have smoother shipments. The best way to use it is as a foundation: learn how the services work, understand the questions to ask and the documents to prepare, and then request a quotation so that we can confirm the price, routing, schedule and requirements for your specific shipment. That confirmation, not the general information on this website, is what you should rely on.
35.Guide price boxes on country pages
Each country page on this website contains a guide price box showing indicative rates for the relevant service: per kilo under and over 100 kilos for air freight, per unit by vehicle type for RoRo and car shipping, and per container for sea freight. Each box carries the statement that these are indicative rates and that you should contact us for precise rates. That statement means exactly what it says. The figures are calculated from typical carrier tariffs for the trade lane, adjusted for the distance and service pattern to the destination, and are intended to show the likely order of cost, not the price of your shipment.
A precise rate requires the actual details of the goods, the collection point in the UK, the destination port, airport or address, the preferred timing and the services needed at each end. Once we have them, we can quote a price that we will stand behind for the validity period stated.
36.The rate finder and schedule finder
The rate finder on our rates page brings together indicative container, vehicle and air cargo prices for every destination we serve. It is designed for comparison and planning. Rates shown are from-prices for standard cargo and do not include destination charges, duties or taxes unless stated. The underlying data is reviewed periodically, and there may be times when the market moves faster than our updates.
The schedule finder on our shipping schedules page shows carriers, UK load ports, discharge ports, frequencies, transit times and sample departure and cut-off dates by region. The departure dates shown are indicative sample dates generated from each service's usual weekly pattern. They are not taken live from carrier systems, and sailings can be moved, merged, cancelled or delayed by carriers without notice. Before relying on any date, confirm the current vessel and cut-off with our freight desk at the time of booking.
37.Carrier and port names
References on this website to shipping lines, airlines, ports, terminals and other third parties are made for information to describe the routes and services commonly available. They do not imply any endorsement, partnership or exclusive arrangement, and we may use different carriers or routings where that gives a better result for your shipment. Trade names and marks belong to their respective owners.
38.Accuracy of country information
Country pages describe the main seaports and airports, typical transit times, common documentation and key import considerations for each destination. We take care to keep this information accurate, but with nearly two hundred countries covered, some details will inevitably become outdated between reviews. Port facilities change, airports open and close cargo terminals, and governments revise import rules. If you notice information that appears out of date, we would be grateful if you would tell us so that we can correct it.
39.No contract through the website
Submitting a quotation form on this website does not create a contract. It is a request for us to contact you with a quotation. A contract is formed only when we confirm a booking in writing, and it is governed by our Terms and Conditions.
40.Weights, measures and conversions
Dimensions, weights, capacities and volumes on this website are approximate. Container internal dimensions and payloads vary between shipping lines and equipment types, vehicle deck heights vary between vessels, and aircraft hold sizes vary between aircraft types. Where we convert between metric and imperial units or between currencies, the conversion is rounded for readability. Always confirm the actual limits for your cargo before booking.
41.External links and downloads
This website may link to government guidance, carrier websites, port authorities and other external resources. We provide these links for convenience; we do not control their content and are not responsible for its accuracy or availability. Documents or templates available to download, such as packing list examples, are provided as illustrations and must be adapted to your shipment and checked against the requirements of the carrier and the destination.
42.Website availability
We aim to keep the website available at all times, but we do not guarantee that it will be uninterrupted, error-free or free from viruses. Access may be suspended for maintenance or for reasons beyond our control. If a quotation form fails to send, please contact us by telephone or email so that your enquiry is not lost. We are not liable for any loss arising from the unavailability of the website or from your reliance on information obtained through it, except where the law does not allow this liability to be excluded.
43.Governing law
This disclaimer and any dispute arising from your use of the website are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have exclusive jurisdiction, except that consumers resident elsewhere in the United Kingdom may bring proceedings in their local courts.
